Treylon Burks Scouting Report

"Thick receiver with gears and a first step that's clutch but isn't especially twitchy and doesn't always use that superior size and length"

Strengths:

Thick receiver with an impressive initial burst and good ball skills. Has gears across the route and a first step. Effectively uses his size to shield at the catch point and after the catch to fall forward for yards.

Good hands and catch radius. Despite his size, he's light on his feet and into his route. Physical at the top of his route and looks to bully for more separation.

A solid running threat after the catch with strength and burst. Solid, effective blocker. Clutch performer that can consistently make the spectacular catch.

Weaknesses:

Not especially twitchy and isn't a beast in contested catch situations. Regularly suffers nagging injuries. Fwiw reportedly not a heavy football fan off the field.

Overall:

Burks is a thick, country strong, athlete with impressive burst and ball skills. He's smooth and quick into his route and physical at the top of his routes. He's a clutch performer that Arkansas regularly tried to get the ball too.

He's an adept open field runner because of his burst and size. All that said, he's not a top tier twitched up athlete. His cod and top speed is just adequate. And while his size is an asset, he's not consistently winning contested catches.
