Trey McBride Scouting Report

"Smooth, adept runner after the catch with vice hands. The rub is that he lacks explosiveness and isn't exactly a monster of a blocker."

Strengths:

Smooth, athletic receiving TE with stick hands and an angry streak. Threatens the seam with solid speed. Adept runner after the catch has deceptive open field breakaway ability.

Ball skills are a plus and he rarely drops catchable passes. Effective route runner with deceptiveness. Puts in work as a blocker with experience inline and in space.

McBride was the clear number 1 receiver at CSU and dominated with the ball in his hands. If he's able to carry that playmaking into the league he'll be more a Delanie Walker type than another Austin Hooper.

Weaknesses:

Doesn't fire off the line and lacks quickness in and out of his breaks. Isn't a killer inline as a blocker and takes his share of L's in pass pro and the running game.

Overall:

McBride is an athletic, versatile TE with the ability to be effective at the los and out wide as a receiver. He's deceptively fast and has good talent as a runner in space. He's a reliable hands guy that can consistently win in a crowd.

While he's got solid speed he's not especially quick or explosive and can be lethargic in and out of his breaks. He's a capable blocker for a receiving TE but he's not pancaking many guys out there.

NFL Comp: stronger Austin Hooper
