Tony Fields II Scouting Profile

"Big 12 leading tackler after transferring in from Arizona punches above his weight with speed and recognition vs the run but lacks some awareness in coverage"

Strengths:

Sideline to sideline tackler with top tier tackling ability. Breaks down in the open field consistently and can lay on a smackdown. Absorbs blocks and gets to the ball. Fluid, with good balance and body control.

Fast and can track and burst to the ball. Shows good core strength and plays way above his weight. Dangerous blitzer with a first step. Relentless motor.

Short clip here emphasizes how Fields punches way up. At just 225 he takes on a double from Kansas St here and holds his ground.

Weaknesses:

Lacks great awareness in coverage and doesn't anticipate well enough. Small build and can get overwhelmed by big, mobile blockers.

Overall:

Big 12 leading tackler after transferring in from Arizona plays fast and strong with a forever motor. He's a lightweight but shows good core strength and animosity in the run game.

In coverage he's not near as instinctive but has the athletic ability and suddenness to be a difference maker there in time. Exceptional ability to square up or breakdown to get into a solid tackling position.
