Strengths:
Long WR with vices for hands. Sudden at the top of his routes and separates regularly. Strong ball skills, high points and catches in traffic. Adept at using his length and catch radius. Good route runner with savvy. Produced right from the jump at Minnesota. Appears mature, aware, with impressive character.
Deceptive and sudden in space, Batemon can separate but really needs that space to operate.
Weaknesses:
Lacks explosiveness and speed. Can waste motion out of his release and can get worked by lengthy, tactile corners. Prone to drops when things get extra physical.
Overall:
Bateman is a tough cover with his length, route running, fearlessness and hands. He surprises defenders with good secondary pace in his stems and at the top of his route. But his releases are inconsistent and a solid, tactile corner that's not threatened by his length can be chore for him.
