Joe Tryon-Shoyinka Scouting Report

"6'5 260+ project with impressive athletic ability for his size but lacks instincts, technique and struggles finishing in space."

Strengths:

6'5 260+ project with initial explosion and quick feet. Long levered and flashes ability to leverage at the poa. Flashes violent hands. Solid closing speed when there's a clear path. Can drop effectively and cover a lot of ground in space.

Weaknesses:

Struggles to convert quickness to power and gets hung up on contact. Doesn't shed well and isn't a great finisher.

Takes awful angles in space and whiffs. Recognition and instincts are lacking. Hand work is a work in progress.

Overall:

Tryon jumps off the film with impressive athletic ability for his size. He's a long, prototypical looking edge player but a major project due to poor instincts and technique.

Contradictions abound on film; solid mobility in space but takes terrible angles to the ball and lets ball carriers ghost him. He's got initial quickness and pop at the snap but then loses the rep thereafter.

If he can hone his attributes and tap down his mistakes he'll become a solid starter, if not, he's Kareem Martin.
