Jaxon Smith-Njigba Scouting Report

"Short strider that's moving faster than he looks and snaps off routes out of the slot. The rub is that he's got ordinary explosiveness and isn't special at the catch point."

Strengths:

Hands catcher with gears and field awareness. Efficient mover with quickness and changes directions with ease. Has an extra gear in the open field.

Soft hands and can make difficult catches look routine. Technique sound blocker. Posted elite short area quickness times at the combine.

Weaknesses:

Ordinary speed, size and explosiveness. Isn't consistently special at the catch point or physical after the catch.

Nagging hamstring completely sunk his 22' season. One year wonder on an opulent WR group where he feasted on the 3rd corner.

Overall:

Smith-Njigba is a bursty, hands catcher with an innate feel for coverage leverage. Shows gears and deceptive quickness in tight spaces.

He a short strider that's moving faster than he looks and can snap off routes. The drawback is that he's basically a slot only guy that won't really threaten over the top or after the catch.
