Jaret Patterson Scouting Profile

"Physical pug with elite lateral ability and great vision but he's not an especially explosive guy for all of that production"

Strengths:

Physical pug with elite lateral ability and great vision. Great patience and can stop & start better than most. Good contact balance and pad level and cranks out yards after contact despite being 5'7.

Decent receiving ability with soft hands. Better pass pro blocker than his size suggests and leverages his entire frame into guys. Workhorse production at Buffalo with solid ball security.

Weaknesses:

Lacks an explosive burst and a 2nd gear. Struggles to turn the corner. Lacks great nuance as a receiver.

Overall:

Patterson's a tiny power back with great feet. He's elusive in tight spaces but has the leverage and grit to gain the tough yards. Despite his size he's not a liability in pass pro and has decent receiving ability out of the backfield.

The catch on him is he's not an especially explosive guy for all of that production. He lacks first step quickness, burst through the hole and won't run away from most guys at the next level.
