Devonte Wyatt Scouting Report

"Interior athlete with a motor that gets it done in all aspects, but getting leaned on by an equal athlete or a crowd is isn't where he wants to be."

Strengths:

Stand out athleticism for the position with strong hands and lateral mobility. Impressive short area burst and closes well to the ball. Sound power and can stack and shed. Attacks with leverage, stays free and can find the ball. Great motor.

Initial heavy hands & punch, 1 on 1, with a closing burst are Wyatt's best attributes. But getting leaned on by an equal athlete or a crowd is isn't where he wants to be.

Weaknesses:

Average size and length and can get overwhelmed. Inconsistent first step quickness. Just an adequate anchor.

Overall:

Wyatt is a well rounded interior guy that can get it done in all aspects. He's mobile for a interior guy and moves easy laterally and with change of direction. He destroys guys with hand work and lateral quickness.

Technique sound and effectively leverages one on one. Motor's always up and he's a playmaker. All that said, good power and technique effectively neutralize him. His size and length is just adequate and he can get rooted out and bounced by the double.

NFL Comp: stronger Jaye Howard
