Juju Smith-Schuster Scouting Report

"Man child at home in the big stage and an experienced route runner and blocker but lacks explosion and doesn't regularly win his physical matchups."

Strengths

Young and big. Already possesses a man's build at 20. Basically, he just looks like a star WR. He's at home in the big stage and carries himself like a leader. He plays with necessary aggression and passion and is a yac threat. Experienced in pro style route tree. Solid blocker.

Weaknesses

Doesn’t come off the line or out of his breaks with great burst. Too often loses jump ball situations despite having the size advantage. Speed is adequate but he’s consistently run down in the open field. Sustained a back injury his last season.

Overall:

Juju declared for the draft a little over a week before the deadline. It was a questionable decision considering the returning QB talent at USC and coming off a so so season. But nevertheless he's taking his talent to the next stage.

I think he's overrated and this is a fairly deep class. I'm also increasingly leery of those Southern Cal WRs...Although Marqise Lee finally started showing something late season for the Jags. Schuster looks like a man among boys but doesn't always play like it. He can be out quicked in his routes, beaten to the catch point in the air, and run down.

Pro Comparison: Chris Harper (Kansas St.)
