5 Prospects Most Likely to Succeed From The Senior Bowl

February 10, 2018

______________

Looking into the crystal ball and putting money down on five guys from the 2018 Senior Bowl practice week that I think will have NFL success.

Isaiah Wynn, OL, Georgia

I thought Wynn was a bit of a sleeper heading into Senior Bowl practices. The short LT really stood out as a run blocker and generally held his own as a pass blocker at Georgia this past year. His measurables prompted a move inside senior week and dominated everyone there. He looked quick, powerful and his technique was sound. If that wasn't enough, at the end of the week it was revealed he'd been dominating with a torn labrum.

Andrew Brown, DL, Virginia

Brown was clearly an athletic 5 Technique in Virginia's defense but he really put on a clinic during practices as a 3 Technique pass rushing tackle. He was consistently too quick for the interior lineman to handle all week and in the game. Checking back on his Virginia tape, you see an athletic freak that lined up everywhere, including on the edge and dropping in space. His talent reminds you of Sheldon Richardson at Missouri and his draft stock will keep rising post combine.

Mike Gesiki, TE, Penn State

Gesiki is a high end athlete that is a good bet to be a better pro player than college player.  Even for receiving TE's, his length and athletic ability is special. He had a solid week of practice in Mobile but as he gets stronger and more experienced, his advantages will show up more.

D.J. Chark, WR, LSU

In a wide class of similarly talented WR prospects, Chark stood out as one of the most complete at LSU this season. His length, ball skills, speed and blocking are all strengths and he was limited only by the number of opportunities he saw. He stood out as one of the best practice players in Mobile during the week than showed out in the game. He reminds me of 6'3 Martavis Bryant.

Will Hernandez, OG, UTEP

Hernandez was a highly touted interior player well before Mobile. I had him as a likely 1st rounder heading into senior week. But he succeeded in raising his stock even higher after his dominant week. Not just a physical mauler, he demonstrated enough foot quickness to project to a pro bowl caliber guy inside.
