College Week 4 Standouts

September 30, 2017

RB Saquon Barkley, Penn St

211 rushing yards. 94 receiving yards on 12 catches. And 53 return yards. Barkley put the horse in workhorse vs Iowa. He's a superstar college playmaker and producer without any weaknesses.

My only...concern about Barkley is the tremendous stress he puts on his lower body with his Barry Sanders-esque running style. Sanders was squat but barely 200lbs. Barkley's around 225. I cringe a little when he sticks his foot in the ground and stops or bounces in the opposite direction.

RB Mark Walton, Miami

Walton exploded in the 1st quarter against Toledo before getting a severe scare after a minor foot injury. He returned late and continued to produce finishing up with 204 yards and a TD on 11 carries. He demonstrated tremendous next level lateral ability and explosion.

QB Logan Woodside, Toledo

Woodside's arm strength doesn't particularly impress, but he showed nearly every other trait of a big time QB propsect vs Miami. He carved up a lost looking Canes defense coming off the layover for 342 yards and 3 TDs. He took the loss but gamely kept Toledo in it until the 4th.

Sans a costly fumble in the 2nd half, he showed poise and clutch ability all game. He's got great feet in the pocket and with his drop backs. He sees the field well and shows accuracy and anticipation, compensating for his sub par arm.

LB Josey Jewell, Iowa

Lots of hype surrounding the matchup between Jewell and Barkley, and neither disappointed. Jewell reads and anticipates like a pro and carries an enormous motor to every game. He's not an elite athlete and can get exposed 1 on 1, but he still ranges all over the field and puts himself in position to make plays.
