TD Pat Elflein Scouting Notes

Pat Elflein Strengths Mean with impressive lateral quickness. Anchors effectively. Drives and can generate push. Finishes with animosity. Decent feet and flashes ability to mirror. Technically sound with good balance. Lethal in space. Team captain and leader. Weaknesses Can play short armed and have some trouble with length. Overextends then loses laterally. Decent feet but not a dancing bear. Strong but not a beast and can get re-accommodated. Overall I think Elflein the best OC in this class and a plug and play guy. He's like a meaner Corey Lindsley or smaller Eric Wood. He's an impressive run blocker and adequate pass blocker at this point. He should solidify the spot for years for whoeve

TD Jarrad Davis Scouting Notes

Jarrad Davis Strengths Passionate player and leader of men. Great motor. Quick recognition of run/pass. Aggressive tackler and goes sideline to sideline. Shock in his hands on contact and can re-accommodate offensive lineman. Adept in pass coverage with good fluidity in space. Good blitzer who anticipates the snap well. Versatility is a strength. Weaknesses Slightly undersized and doesn't look like a blazer despite good timed speed. Gets there but too often slips off tackles. History of minor injuries. Overall Davis was the unquestioned emotional leader of a talented Gator defense. I'm a big fan of guys with forever motors and big hearts. Davis is as much an impressive man as football player

TD Montae Nicholson Scouting Report

Montae Nicholson* Strengths Bigger than average safety with great range and requisite physicality. Aggressive and tries to intimidate opponents from sideline to sideline. Can turn and run with anyone. Experienced in the deep half half and the box. Racks up tackles in bunches. A solid candidate for a hybrid safety/linebacker position. Weaknesses Over aggressive, flies up and misses too many tackles... like here as well. Impressive speed but unpolished in coverage. Not the greatest instincts in coverage and can take poor angles. Gets caught looking. Post combine labrum surgery could limit him into training camp. Overall Watching Malik McDowell earlier last season. Nicholson kept jumping off th

TD Dorian Johnson Scouting Notes

Jeff Ahearn Pitt News Dorian Johnson Strengths Athletic and a finisher. Fires out if his stance and gets to the second level in a blink. Drives his feet and can generate push. Reanchors effectively. Has the feet to mirror. Weaknesses Doesn't sustain. Undersized and let's guys into his chest and control him. Could use more sand. Much better moving linear than laterally. Overall Johnson is an especially athletic interior run blocker. He looks and plays like a bulked up full back. Plays with necessary meanness and looks to finish. He's strong and can anchor inside but he doesn't latch on and allows guy to shed him. Looks undersized and plays like it. Battles but can get ragdolled when guys get

TD Mike Williams Scouting Notes

Mike Williams* It's easy to root for Williams after a freak injury nearly wrecked his football career. He comes off a big junior season where he looked like the best WR prospect in the nation. Strengths Top shelf size and wing span. Good hands and has the body control to make acrobatic and difficult catches. Generally wins in jump ball situations. Quick feet for a large WR. Tough to jam with his size, quick feet and quick hands. Has clutch genes and steps up in big games. Big personality but sans the typical diva. Weaknesses Doesn't have great speed and isn't explosive in and out of his cuts or after the catch. Overall I think Williams has been the #1 WR prospect all season. He's not especia

TD Haason Reddick Scouting Notes

Haason Reddick Mid season Reddick jumped out of the screen to me on tape and I was higher on him by the end of November than most. All he's done in the post season is drive his stock up higher than any other prospect in this class. Strengths Combines the physicality of a poa DE with the mobility of a DB. Quick first step off the line and has the fluidity to bend and change direction. Good hand use at the poa. Holds his ground better than his size suggests. Former HS safety has experience in coverage and is adept covering the slot. Showed impressive coverage ability senior week. Weaknesses He can overrun the ball in space and wrap up the ball carrier better. Fights well at the poa but does ha

TD Rodney Adams Scouting Notes

Rodney Adams Strengths Consistently explosive playmaker with homerun speed and short area quickness. Dangerous yac guy and returner. Bursts off the line. Solid length and hands. Doesn't back down as a blocker. Tough and an extremely high character guy. Weaknesses Rail thin frame. Limited route runner and just adequate production. Overall I think Adams will be a better pro than college player. His college production was adequate but his skill set suggests he'll be a much harder cover as a pro. Strength, technique and route running need improvement but he's got the elite cod, deep speed and toughness to become an Emmanuel Sanders/Travis Benjamin type pro. Pro Comparison: Emmanuel Sanders _____

TD Zach Cunningham Scouting Notes

Scott Cunningham Getty Zach Cunningham* Strengths Angular tough player with top shelf burst from a to b. Quick to avoid blocks but also has more shock in his hands than wiry frame leads on. Sheds quickly. Doesn't lack for toughness. Impressive closing speed. Finds a way thru trash. Good tackler who's the first to arrive to the ball. Weaknesses Poor recognition in coverage. Has the tools but needs more polish. Not afraid to take on blocks but often seeks to avoid unnecessarily. Angular and has some difficulty with quickness in tight spaces. Overall Cunningham's a slower Ryan Shazier. He's got a wiry strong frame with great quickness and closing burst. Great tackler who flies to the ball and

TD Rayshawn Jenkins Scouting Notes

Doug Murray Icon Sportswire Rayshawn Jenkins Strengths Rangy and aggressive with good size. Flies up to greet the run and can be a punishing tackler. Relishes contact. Athletic enough for man coverage with decent hips and cod. Experienced in single high and as the last line of defense as well as in the box. Weaknesses Gets to the ball but an inconsistent tackler. Overruns plays and can take bad angles. Field awareness often lacking and eats blocks. Tentative in coverage and doesn't anticipate well. False stepper. Overall Jenkins is a big athletic safety that plays with animosity. He's too often out of control and misses tackles but he also gets to the ball all over the field and makes plays.

TD Josh Jones Scouting Notes

Josh Jones Strengths Reliable last line defender who'll track and tackle. Fast with prototype size and athleticism. Experienced playing single high, in the box and covering the slot. Solid on ball production over his career. Relishes the collisions. Weaknesses Drag down tackler who too often gives up those hidden extra yards on tackles. Overruns plays and is a leaky tackler firing downhill. Lines them up but doesn't always make solid contact. Not hard to block out of the play. Linear fast but doesn't play quite as fast as he tested. Overall Jones is similar to UConn's Melifonwu. Prototype size, solid production and eye popping testing but not as impressive an actual football player. He's occ

TD James Connor Scouting Reports

Gene J. Puskar AP James Connor Strengths Big back with vision and versatility. Power guy that finishes; always falls forward. Keeps legs moving and hits the truck stick on weak tacklers. Impressive lateral mobility for a big back that surprises opponents. Soft hands out of the backfield. Adequate blocker. Identity creator for a team and will be a leader in the locker room and off the field. Weaknesses Initial quickness and burst is lacking. Upright runner who takes a lot of punishment. Doesn't have a second gear. Still recovering his mobility and health after a knee injury and cancer. Overall The easiest guy to root for in this class. Battled adversity with class and maturity. Pedestrian spe

TD Teez Tabor Scouting Notes

Jalen Teez Tabor* Strengths Tabor has one of the quickest click and close of anyone in this draft. Great ball skills..If it's up for grabs, he's coming down with it. Attacks the ball in the air. Makes up for missteps with elite burst. Weaknesses Not a fan of tackling. Anticipates and appears to freelance a bit. Creates turnovers but also gives up chunk plays. Quicker than fast type. Awful test numbers at the combine and pro day have likely significantly impacted his stock. Overall Tabor plays a lot like Marcus Peters or Josh Norman. He's got the skill set to cover anyone and isn't always reliable, but makes up for it by being a playmaker. He's a business decision tackler but relishes taking

TD Jalen Reeves-Maybin Scouting Notes

Robin Rudd Times Free Press Jalen Reeves-Maybin Strengths Tough and has good awareness and anticipation. Quick and aggressive to the ball when he reads it. Effective blitzer and can drop & cover in space. Occasionally covered the slot. Long arms and flashes shock in his hands despite size. Team leader and a grinder that puts in the extra work during the week and in the film room. Weaknesses Doesn't consistently breakdown in space and misses open field tackles. Light and gets thrown around if he doesn't get his hands on you. Quicker than fast guy. Shoulder injury and surgery sidelined him senior year and has affected his draft stock. Overall Reeves-Maybin is small but he's physical and willi

TD Dan Feeney Scouting Notes

Dan Feeney Strengths Powerful, athletic and versatile. Shows some speed in space. Drives and consistently generates push. A finisher that tries to sports center opponents. Shows a good punch and strong hands. Brawler that generally wins. Weaknesses Doesn't possess the quickest feet and is more if a linear athlete. Doesn't always win the leverage battle and can struggle to anchor at times. Was a liability in pass protection when playing out at OT. Overall Feeney is a rock solid interior player. Strong upper body, gets push inside, and is impressively mobile in the open field. His technique isn't all that consistent atm but he's still a blue chip guy that projects to OG or OC. I think he’s a

TD Garett Bolles Scouting Notes

Garett Bolles Strengths Quick feet, physical and an obnoxiously mean finisher. Stout and anchors well. Drives his feet and tries to sportscenter every guy he faces. Plays thru the whistle. Quick, comfortable mover in space and gets to moving targets. Grinder who’s faced adversity and leaves it all out on the field. Weaknesses Still raw and awareness is often lacking. Not the biggest OT and can fail if he's out leveraged. Power guys can work him some and he'll need to get stronger. Aggressiveness can sometimes cross the line. Overall Bolles is a monster on the field. He's one of the nastiest guys I've seen in some time and piles up pancakes. Carries a warrior mentality to the field and locke

TD Damontae Kazee Scouting Notes

Damontae Kazee Strengths Great ball skills and clicks and closes well in off man. Physical and sticky in press man senior week despite playing off the majority of career. Aggressive and quick with hands. Solid tackler. Flies up vs the run and wants to make a stick. Weaknesses Especially handsy in man and struggles to carry speed. In off he's small and can get bodied by bigger WRs. Quicker then fast guy that can be out run to spots. Overall Playmaking small CB that always plucks the ball when given the opportunity. Zone CB that really intrigued with press potential senior week. Uses quick heavy hands to try and compensate for ordinary speed. Willing, aggressive tackler that doesn’t back down.

TD Larry Ogunjobi Scouting Notes

Larry Ogunjobi Strengths Strong first step. Carries some shock in his hands. Athletic pursuer with fluidity for a DT. Good recognition and awareness. Big motor. Role model character guy and a strong worker. Weaknesses Needs to be on the move to be most effective. Undersized and underpowered inside leads to occasionally getting overwhelmed. Double teams aren't his friend. Overall Ogunjobi made a strong first impression at the start of senior week practices but eventually the OL adjusted and he was quiet for the remainder of the week. Classic undersized 3 tech type DL. Quick, powerful first step but can't sustain and gets held up and pushed back. Impressive leader and will live in the film an

TD Forrest Lamp Scouting Notes

Forrest Lamp Strengths Mirrors with balance and strength. Sustains blocks well. Athletic and is an easy mover in space. Drives feet and gets a solid push. Suitable punch and locks on well. Anchors effectively and handles power. Adequate arm length and big hands. Weaknesses Solid feet at OT but not top tier and can lose to speed inside and out. Length is lacking and looks like an interior player. Overall Lamp is a steady, powerful guy with good feet. Almost boring. Considered an OG because of his lack of ideal measurables but he held his own at LT against the power of Jon Allen and the speed of Arden Key over the past 2 seasons. Best fit is OG but I think he could easily hold up at LT as a pr
